Monthly Sketch Challenge/Melissa

Hope everyone is having a great summer! Melissa here with my take on this month’s sketch challenge. One more time, here’s the sketch…

…and here is my layout, done with this adorable line of paper, “Super Stud” by Bella Boulevard. I originally saw a girly layout coming when I saw the sketch, but decided to change it up a little and create a boyish version.

I stuck with the basic layout for the sketch, but I did make my pictures a little larger so they wouldn’t get lost in the busy background. I also made the center picture stand out by keeping it in color and converting the others to black and white.
One of the sheets of paper in this line includes several little boxes, circles, and strips with sayings, individual robots, different words, etc. To dress these up a little, I cut out the ones I wanted to use and covered them with a layer of clear gloss glaze. Its an epoxy type product that dries clear and glossy. Just paint on a layer using a paint brush, and let it dry (note- a heat embossing tool does not help to hurry the process along, you’ve just got to be patient until its dry- not a virtue of mine!). When its dry you will have a great embellishment! I also used this on the grungeboard arrows and star after I had chalked them with fluid chalk in Aquamarine.

Well, that’s it for this time. Don’t forget to send in your interpretation of this month’s sketch!
